Story
On 25th September 2009, twelve intrepid trekkers are taking on Dead Woman's Pass, high altitudes and heading for Machu Picu in Peru.
The motley crew are made up of doctors, nurses, parents and supporters of Teenage Cancer Trust in the North East and Cumbria and are raising money for the new TCT unit for younger teens (13 - 18) based at the Great North Children's Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Teenage Cancer Trust (North East & Cumbria)
We are raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust (North East and Cumbria) - they specialise in cancer units for teenagers and young people and are about to open a new unit for young teenagers aged 13 - 18 at The Great North Children's Hospital in Newcastle by early next year followed by another new unit for older teens and young people at The Freeman Hospital in 2010.
The new unit will include single bedded suites, recreational areas, wet and dry rooms, complimentary thearapy room, juke box and snooker table, an IT suite to carry on those vital studies (education doesnt stop because you are in hospital!!) and right at the top of the new building is the Metro Radio Chill Out Zone - totally dedicated for young people to just sit and relax whilst overlooking the whole of the city.
All the income raised will be restricted to the new unit at The Great North Children's Hospital for cancer sufferers from the North East and Cumbria.
Thank you for looking at our site and please donate generously, after all, we are doing all the hard work!
