  • Ben Nevis (Scotland) – 1344m
  • Scafell Pike (England) – 978m
  • Snowdon (Wales) – 1085m

So why have we decide to chosen The Chelsea Pensioners Appeal; The Royal Hospital Chelsea we always have a special place in our hearts at UK Veterans Advice Bureau. Sadly recently a member of our team at UK Veterans Advice Bureau -  in pensioner ‘’Leonard Gillard’’ sadly passed away at the Royal Hospital Chelsea after a short fight with cancer on the 8th January 2015 at the amazing age of 93.

Leonard was one of the finding members of the UK Veterans Advice Bureau from September 2012 when we first started out in the veteran’s community. Leonard truly believed in what we do at UK Veterans Advice Bureau and was very proud of the hard work we do in the veteran’s community.

When I was informed Leonard was to become a Chelsea Pensioner this was magical as Leonard lived for the Army and everything it had to offer. Leonard had joined the army in 1937 and left in 1970 after serving as both a regular and in the TA.

I truly feel that if it wasn’t for the Royal Hospital Chelsea, Leonard finally days would have ended a lot differently. But with this new life at the Royal Hospital Chelsea Leonard become that wonderful caring person again he once was and always smiling and sharing jokes. Leonard had taken part in some amazing events ranging from eating at Gordon Ramsay Restaurant (twice) and taking part in the London Taxi journey to Arnhem to name a few of the events in which he take part in with the Royal Hospital Chelsea.

About the charity
