Story
Help for Heroes provides practical direct support to servicemen and women wounded in the line of duty in the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. As part of the City Salute campaign, Venturehaus is proud to be supporting the cause and is holding a number of events throughout 2008 and 2009 to raise funds for Help for Heroes.
On the 17th September 2009, Major Phil Packer addressed an audience of City professionals at a fundraising drinks reception at New Broad Street House. Having been told he would never walk again after an incident in Basra last year, he has defied all odds to conquer the kind of physical challenges any of us would struggle with, most recently walking the London Marathon and climbing El Capitan. Guests were astounded to hear his story, not least because of his down-to-earth, pragmatic attitude and evident sense of humour. After the presentation, guests took part in an auction of some very special prizes and in all over £10,000 has been raised, enabling Venturehaus to smash the original target. Many thanks to all that attended, indeed to all that have attended any of our events throughout 2008 and 2009.
2010 is already being planned, but in the meantime, any donations to this page are always very gratefully received.
Many thanks for your support.
