Story

Hi All,

My name is Veronica,  I  had breast cancer over 4 years ago and I am a survivor.  I am a professional and worked in the NHS and was very disappointed with my care,so therefore decided to go private.  Hence, I have devoted my time and energy to fight for  NHS patients and all ladies who have to go through the traumatic pathway of cancer treatment, often without any support or very little.  Throughout my pathway I had a special person in my life, who married me after my treatment, and along with my family provide support . The charity Breast Friends Solihull also supported me throughout my journey and was an invaluable group as we shared  common experiences.  It has been my determination to contribute as much as I can to help to make the cancer journey for ladies, particularly in the NHS to be as comfortable as possible and to provide much neededl support and care.  Hence, I have become an active committee member.  We have organised monthly meetings along with social evenings.  Our main focus is to fund raise and use these funds to help ladies undergoing treatment with cleaning, gardening, childcare, hardship fund, reflexology, wigs and manicure - as their nails get discoloured due to treatment.  We have also purchased equipment for our local Hospital such as sentinnial node probe and a tattoo machine so that ladies can have their nipple tattooed when they had them reconstructed. We have also funded the refurbishment of the treatment room that the CNS uses for breast cancer ladies.

I have self funded my trip to Sydney to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge in order to raise funds to support this work from which I have had and am still benefiting.  I am petrified of heights but I will do my best.

I am looking for sponsors for this epic journey, and would be most grateful if you could help. All donations will be gratefully received.

Horrah! I have finally done it and is back in the UK.  This is an experience that I would not be doing again, I was in such a state doing it but I just had to keep thinking of many individuals that have been so kind to sponsor me for my achievement.  I would like to say many thanks for your encouraging words and donations.  Please sponor its not too late, this is open until the 21st June 2010.

Thank you and God Bless.

Veronica
