Hello all,

So... I was looking for a challenge, and I decided I'd found one when I heard about this event in which participants aim to walk 100 miles in one go. Including all through one night, and probably most of the way through the next. Without stopping to sleep or anything. It sounded like fun, although I'm not sure whether I'll still be thinking that when I actually come to do it. The event is the Games 100, starting at the Olympic stadium, passing several other Games venues and finishing in Windsor. It's part of the Olympic Committee's Inspire scheme, and as such is the closest I'm ever likely to get to participating in the Olympics.

As a trainee teacher, supporting an education charity seemed appropriate. Pratham is based in India, and aspires to the target of "Every child in school and learning well". India has nearly half a billion children under the age of 18, and at the last count almost a fifth of primary age children and half those of secondary age don't attend school [UNESCO figures]. So trying to get every child in school is clearly quite a task, but Pratham has already helped more than 30 million children across the country, and has been commended by the World Bank as one of the most effective charities in the world - so you know that every penny you give will go as far as possible.
