Story
Everybody has a mother at some stage in their life, but sometimes all too early and for whatever reason, has becomes had. Like was the case with my mum when in 1988 she was diagnosed with breast cancer aged just 47. Unfortunately the diagnosis and surgery happened all too late and by 1994 the cancer had spread to her liver. After more surgery and chemotherapy she was submitted to hospital and several weeks before Christmas she passed away in hospital. She was only 53.
It seems to me that this type of tragedy is all too common and cancer is unbiased in who it affects, of the people we love and care about.
It's over 16 years ago since my mum died but you never forget a loved one no matter how many years have passed. I miss her a lot.
In memory of my mum - Myself and 7 other guys with an average age greater than 45 have decided to ride 1,000 miles from Lands End in England to John O'Groats in Scotland. We aim to do it in 11 days and I am hoping to raise as much money as I can for Cancer Research UK.
This is my personal quest (if you like); but it's also about giving extra funding to organisations such as Cancer Research UK so that they can continue their excellent work into fighting this horrible disease.
You never know, their research might even help you or someone you care about some day.
Thank you.
