Story
Roughly two million voting-eligible LGBTQ+ folks are not registered to vote, according to HeadCount. The fight for full freedom, justice, and equality for LGBTQ people, particularly Black, Indigenous, and other people of color (BIPOC), is far from over. Our fight begins by showing as a community to make our voices heard at the ballot box.
When we show up for elections, we can help elect people who resemble us and share our values. We can help secure non-discrimination protections for all LGBTQ people across the U.S.
Our transgender and non-binary siblings face discrimination the most, including in our democratic system, by enforcing voter I.D. laws in some states––making their experience of casting a ballot invalidating, intimidating, and unsafe.
At the National LGBTQ Task Force, we believe in building a future where we can all thrive. And for us, that means creating a queer political home for LGBTQ people everywhere across the U.S. We believe the cornerstone of democracy is simple: free and fair elections, open to all eligible citizens. Elections are vital to an inclusive, equitable society.
But we can't do that without you. With every dollar you donate, you help us build the people power necessary to fight for what we deserve. Your support will fund the National LGBTQ Task Force's Queer the Vote Campaign, helping us with our Get Out the Vote work around the country ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. Will you join me in creating a representative democracy?
