Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For some strange reason, I registered for a place in the North Devon Marathon. Despite the fact that it was advertised as 'challenging'.
Challenging is what you expect. Nobody expects running 26.2 miles to be easy! I successfully ran the London Marathon in 2008 and was pleased with my time - for an old bloke.
Anyway...on Sunday I decided to try out part of the course, as preparation. I ran from Saunton Sands, up through fields and down footpaths to Croyde. I then ran along B roads to Puttsborough, (while trying to read a map) along Marine Drive and down in to Woolacombe. I turned around and headed back along Marine Drive heading towards Baggy Point. After a few miles of negotiating around sheep I headed from Baggy Point down to Croyde Beach and then along the coast path and back to Saunton.
It was hot! It was incredibly hard work, with some very steep hills, and I felt very old!
And that was only half of the course. The easy half!
I am going to have to be better prepared...if I'm going to make the full distance.
