Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I'm running the Prague Marathon in May to raise money for three charity schools in Nepal which collectively educate more than 1,400 children. Having taught in Nepal in 2007, this is a charity that is close to my heart. Many of the children at the schools come from very poor backgrounds and rely completely on sponsorship from the UK.
The running gene definitely isn't present in the Rayward-Smith DNA so I'm training against the odds!
Before October I had never run further than 6 miles. I'm now running five times per week and have improved my half-marathon time by 15 minutes (from 1hr 53mins in October to 1hr 38mins in February). I've set myself the challenge of 3hr 30mins for the marathon.
Your money will go a long way in Nepal:
£10 is enough to pay for a day-student's education for a whole month
£20 is enough for a boarding-student's education, accommodation and food for a whole month
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: HVP UK gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

I've just got back from Prague - the marathon was a truely awesome experience.
I completed it in 4 hrs (+1 min) and am very very chuffed. I couldn't have done it without knowing that I had your support so thank you ever so much.
I ran the first 10 km in 47 minutes and was running well, feeling good and was ahead of the 3hours 30mins pacemaker. The heat then cranked up to a nasty 21 degreesC in the shade and, despite taking on lots of fluids, cramps took over in both legs at about 30 km. But nevertheless I battled on, drenching myself in water at every opportunity and even tried a sprint finish (see bottom photo for comedy pained face).
Thanks to Party for being a great running partner and to Selene for popping up all over the course and supporting the two of us.
I recommend running a marathon (or at least a half)- you'll love it!! Now planning on breaking the 3:45 time later this year...
