Story
In September 2007, at the age of 36, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Parkinson's Disease is a progressive condition, which affects the part of the brain that controls movement. The condition can cause difficulties which include tremor, stiffness and slowness of movement.
Parkinson's is widely perceived to be a disease of the elderly. This is not true. There are around 6000 people under 40 in the UK who have been diagnosed and are living with the condition.
There is presently no cure for Parkinson's. The progression of the illness can not even be slowed down. The available medication can only mask the symptoms.
I am extremely keen for a cure for Parkinson's to be found! WobblyWilliams.com was set up to increase awareness of PD and to report on the fundraising efforts of my friends and family. All the money raised will fund research into the causes, prevention and cure of PD.
2008 Events:
18 May – Glasgow Women’s 10K : Participants – Karen Wood

24 August - Wobbly Williams Music Festival in Donegal
7 September - Great Scottish Run : Scotland's biggest race will have 40 Wobbly Williams runners in the 10k. The lure of being able to cross the Kingston Bridge at speeds in excess of 5mph has proved too great.

September – The West Highland Way on a mountain bike. Once they have completed the Wobbly Williams Walk, Gareth and George will go back down the WHW on bikes. Barking.
October– The Great North Run - 13 miles of madness - 7 Runners
Every £1000 raised will fund cutting edge research into Parkinson's for one week.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. The Parkinson's Disease Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
