SportsAid is the only national charity of its kind, proudly supporting young British sportsmen and women who aspire to be our next Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth and world champions.

Story

SHEFFIELD HALF MARATHON

On Sunday 26th April I'm running the Sheffield Half Marathon again, this time raising money for SportsAid and Sheffield University Swimming and Waterpolo Club.

SportsAid exists to support talented athletes in the UK between the ages of 12 and 18 who would otherwise be unable to fulfil their potential in their sport due to financial constraints.

The charity has helped many of today's sporting heroes in their early careers. This includes the recipients 18 of the 19 British Gold Medals won in Beijing in 2008, including Rebecca Adlington, Chris Hoy, Bradley Wiggins, Christine Ohuruogu and James DeGale. A third of last year's Paralympic Gold medallists, including Eleanor Simmonds, David Stone and Danielle Brown have also benefited from the work of the charity.

Several of Britain's London 2012 prospects in the Sheffield area currently rely on SportsAid for vital funding - with your support this can continue through the formative years of their careers.

To find out more please visit www.sportsaid.org.uk.

I plan to donate a third of total donations to Sheffield University Swimming and Waterpolo club. The club is in need of funds to secure a future with adequate training hours and coaching, and I'm running with several other team members to further this cause.

Please give as generously as you can.

Thanks for your support!
