Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In January 2015 I will be participating in the World Marathon Challenge (www.worldmarathonchallenge.com), which is an amazing logistical challenge to run a marathon on each of the 7 continents in just 7 days. Starting on mainland Antarctica at Union Glacier where the expected temperature will be -20C to -25C and finishing less than 168 hours later in sunny Sydney, Australia. In between I will be flying to and running a marathon in Punta Arenas South America, Miami North America, Madrid Europe, Marrakesh Africa, and UAE Asia. The race which is being held for the first time is limited to just 12 competitors from around the World and I am lucky enough to be one of those.

To say this will be a challenge is an understatement and my intensive training has already commenced. As part of this training I will be running in The Kazbegi Mountain Marathon (www.kazbegi-marathon.com) at 6000ft above sea level, The Volcano Marathon (www.volcanomarathon.com) in the Atacama desert at 14000ft and also in Chelmsford (about 246ft above sea level apparently!) I will be taking on a 50km Ultra Marathon in London in mid October as well. This will hopefully prepare me for the task ahead to run 183 miles, travel approximately 24,000 miles around the world whilst experiencing a likely 50 degree temperature change and living off of aeroplane food, all in less than 168 hours.

In the last 2 years my Firm has lost our former Chairman, Martin Anderson and also our youngest employee, Charlotte James, to the curse that is Cancer and I will do this challenge in their memories and to raise funds under the Haslers Foundation banner. The full amount raised (all race costs are being met by myself) will be split evenly 3 ways between St Clare Hospice (www.stclarehospice.org.uk), Teenage Cancer Trust (www.teenagecancertrust.org) and the many local charities and causes that we at the Haslers Foundation have been honoured to support over the years.

I am only going to do this once! So now is the time to dig deep and make a real difference to these incredible charities. There will also be an opportunity to sponsor my running shirts for each day and you can contact me for further details about that.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
