Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 8th February 2015, I will be undertaking the biggest physical and mental challenge of my life. Experiencing temperatures that could plunge to -40 degrees Celsius, I will be racing, 300 miles by foot, through the wilderness of the Yukon territory, Canada.
In doing this, both during the preparation and the 300 mile foot race itself, I will be fundraising for Brain Tumour Research. Why? Brain cancer has recently, directly or indirectly, affected the lives of some of my family and friends. Of all the funded cancer research performed, less than 1% of those funds is spent on brain cancer research, despite the fact that 20% of cancer will eventually spread to the brain.
A challenge facing the brain tumour research community is attracting talent. Many young talented researchers are drawn to better-funded cancers however the Centre of Excellence has a pool of talented researchers, queuing up to undertake research. I am looking to raise as much as I can to put towards the costs of a PhD studentship. To fund a three-year PhD student costs £90,000.
Please help if you can. No amount is too small, and it does all add up. If you would like to read more about my challenges and keep up-to-date with my blog you can do so with the following links:
