GREAT NEWS! I found my first three potential bone marrow donors. 2 Italians and one Turkish. I am really please that my raising awareness campaign over the last few months has helped me to find three kind and amazing people who will help to change the lives of people affected by Leukaemia. You may know that l lost my auntie to Leukaemia at the young age of 28, one year after giving birth to her only daughter.Later on in life I also lost my father to another form of cancer. In 2009, I became a volunteer for the Leukaemia Society and met  the most incredibly committed people, both staff and other volunteers.

 

One of my biggest projects at the moment is to translate documentation into Italian so that I  can contact Italian communities in London to find bone marrow donors. Italian, like Spanish, are under represented in the UK Bone Marrow register. The Leukaemia Society and myself wish to appeal to those communities so that they can contribute to change and save the lives of more people affected by Leukaemia. 

 

Anyway, now, I will help them in a very different way. They have asked me to take part on a trek in Peru. I accepted with great enthusiasm, but now I have to get fit and raise £3,500!.  It’s a big amount but hopefully thanks to the generosity of some friends and family I am very hopefully in achieving this target.

 

To help reach my target I will also be involved in fundraising activities, one of which is to teach Italian in return for a donation  - so if you need lessons just let me know!
