We champion rights and well-being to help create better chances for children
Story
A team of runners from MINT are participating in the Standard Chartered City Race next week. Our aim is to raise money for Coram, the UK's first children's charity founded in 1739 - see www.coram.org.uk
We hope to provide at least one course of music therapy which costs about £1,200. Many adopted children come to Coram with memories of a damaging and traumatic past. They are often very young, and lack the language to be able to comprehend or explain to a parent or therapist what they are feeling. For these children, finding a way to express their emotions is the first step to begin to put the past behind them, deal with their memories and learn to trust, to love and to be happy.
Coram’s Music Therapy provides just that outlet for children when they need it. Their music therapists work with children to tell stories through music. By using the tools of play, song and sound, music therapists encourage children to come out of themselves, to show their frustration and feelings of loss, and to work with the therapist to deal with these feelings and move on.
And remember "music is the only medium where everyone can speak at the same time and it still makes sense"
We all know that you receive many requests like this, but anything you can give will really make a difference to someones life.
Thanks from all the MINT runners!
Coram, the UK’s first and longest-serving children’s charity, directly supports the right and well-being of over 140,000 children, young people and families every year.
