Story
Each day 27 people in the UK receive a leukaemia diagnosis. From our personal experience during Karen's year long battle against this insidious disease we understand more than most what this can mean for a family.
To help ensure that Karen's legacy to help leukaemia patients and their families lives on, we are fundraising for our 20th Anniversary Campaign and asking people to donate at least £20. We are delighted and very grateful to two charitable trusts who have generously committed to matching every pound raised in this campaign: you donate £20 and they will donate £20!* Literally doubling your donation!.
Helping more people with leukaemia
Your donation will help us to continue supporting our four current Karen's Homes (at Hammersmith Hospital, the Churchill in Oxford, Addenbrooke's in Cambridge and the Queen Elizabeth in Birmingham) and open new ones for leading British haematology departments. These Homes offer private on site accommodation for leukaemia patients' families, a haven where they can relax in comfortable surroundings and cook their loved one's favourite food as well as a safe bolt hole for patients when they can escape the cabin fever of their isolation room, even if only for a few hours, at just a stone's throw from their ward. They relieve the stress of travel or finding and paying for accommodation. It is envisaged that there will be a growing need for patients to use these facilities as the treatment for leukaemia moves from the need to stay in hospital to daily but not in-patient treatment.
Thank you for your support. We do hope you will wish to support the KMMT's 20th Anniversary Campaign. Your doubled donation will help ease the trials of a leukaemia diagnosis for patients and their families
