It is Spring 2012 and time to update our page once again.
First of all we would like to thank everyone for their generous donations and support for our fundraising activities so far. Together we have raised a whopping £47,000 since our journey began and if you add in Gift Aid the total benefit to the causes we have supported is almost £54,000!
Although our original page is now closed to donations, you can still visit it here http://www.justgiving.com/gmj-1 to see all the nice messages left in Mum's memory.
Naturally plans are now well under way for this years activities and we will be 'teeing off' as ever with the JGM Invitational Golf Day (Friday 6th April) which this year happens to co-incide with Dad's birthday so we are anticipating a big turn out. In fact all the places have now been allocated but if anyone is interested in putting their name down as a reserve or for future events they should let us know.
Sadly it looks like the Saddleworth Beer Walk, which as you know usually takes place in June, is no more. It is a shame that such a popular event, which has helped raise a great deal of money (and provide much merriment!) over the years, has had to be cancelled. Let's hope the organisers and the local authorities work out the problems and we can see a return to fancy dress in 2013.
Later this year we are hoping to bring you another of our very successful Dinner Dances but controversially plans are under consideration to change the location and style of the event - for one year only! The familiar format will definitely be back in 2013.
As always we will use this platform to keep everyone posted on what we are up to but please fell free to contact us by email on jgm160@gmail.com should you want any more information. By the way - you should also feel free to suggest any new fundraising ideas of your own if you wish.
As you know since Spring 2010 we've been supporting Ovarian Cancer Action, a small but incredible charity committed to funding research, raising awareness and giving a voice to women and the families affected by ovarian cancer. Mum was very keen that we help fund cutting edge scientific research in this area, and we hope that our contributions to OCA will make a difference. You can learn more about their great work by visiting http://www.ovarian.org.uk/.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: OCA get your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thanks once again for your ongoing generosity and good work!
Much love.
Pete, Helen and Steve xxxx
