We EDUCATE and EMPOWER communities to better CARE for their working animals

Story

First of all, thanks for giving your time to visit my fundraising website!

This really is the easiest way to sponsor my marathon efforts; donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. Brooke Hospital for Animals will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. However if you'd rather sponsor me the conventional way, then please drop me an email or just me for a form!

Here's a bit about my chosen charity. The Brooke really is a fantastic charity, working in some of the poorest parts of the world helping animals and people alike. Without the help of the Brooke, many horses and donkeys would be suffering, and the people who rely on these animals to make a living would be starving. The Brooke provides free veterinary care for working horses and donkeys, as well as education and training for their owners to help them care for and make the most from their animals. The Brooke also provides employment in these poverty stricken areas, by training vets and other staff from the local community to work on the Brooke's behalf.

I first encountered the Brooke on my year abroad in Egypt, where horses and donkeys are relied on for everything from pulling vegetable carts, to transporting families and even tourists. I saw some truly horrific sights, from malnourished horses, to donkeys unable to stand due to the weight on their backs. This neglect is not always deliberate; education is a major part of the Brooke's work. Cairo was home to the Brooke's first clinic in 1934, and since then has expanded to work across Asia, Africa, the Middle East and South America.

Here's an idea of what your donation could help to provide:

50p could pay for four hoof picks to keep hooves free from dirt and infection

£1 could pay for a better bit to prevent cuts and sores around the mouth

£10 could pay for anti-rabies vaccinations for 20 hardworking animals

£10 could also pay for enough nutritious feed for a donkey for a whole month

£40 could pay for a Brooke community animal health worker for a week, who will build relationships with communities and help them to improve their animals' lives

£40 could also pay for a vet for a day, who will treat sick and injured horses and donkeys, and train their owners

£64 could pay for a roadside rescue pack for weak and collapsed horses and donkeys

£105 could pay for five portable water troughs to quench the thirst of tired animals and stop cases of dehydration

£365 could pay for a mobile team to be on the road for a week, helping countless animals

£1000 could pay for the training of a specialist vet - so they can ease pain and illness

My fundraising target is £500, which would be fantastic to achieve, and as you can see, would help the Brooke to provide many of their crucial services. So every donation will be equally appreciated, whether 50p or £50!

And if you’re a UK taxpayer don’t forget to Gift Aid it, it requires your full address but this is purely for identification purposes. Your details will not be used for any other purpose, and it costs you nothing.

A £10 donation could become £12.80 just by ticking the box!

Many thanks for your support, and if you know anyone else who might like to support me, please pass on my link: www.justgiving.com/kattyrunslondon

In the meantime thank you again, the Brooke really does appreciate every penny.
