Story
On the 26th September, 2010, eight of us will be heading up to the Cairngorms National Park in the Scottish Highlands to embark upon a challenge all in aid of raising money for the Sailors' Society.
The challenge promises to be gruelling, starting with a 50km mountain bike ride through open hills and ancient Caledonian pine forest, followed by a 3km kayak race in one of the park's lochs, and ending with a 10km run including an ascent of an 800m mountian peak.
We will be competing with over 200 other energy industry participants on the day, not only in the physical challenge but also in our fundraising efforts.
Gunning for Morgan Stanley on the day will be: Russell Dyk, Mark MacLean, Simon Kennedy, Howard Lam, Joseph Morgan, Rajiv Panicker, Michael Rainsford and Michael Simpson.
It would be much appreciated if you could contribute any amount to help us reach our £4,000 target.
The Wilderness Challenge is organised by a charity called The Sailors' Society, which provides a personal lifeline for seafarers on board and when they step ashore. Existing to enrich and enhance the well-being of seafarers in port through its Port Chaplains and Centres, seafarers are offered practical help and welfare, spiritual support, financial assistance and family liaison.
More information about the charity can be found at www.sailors-society.org.
