THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL THE GENEROUS SUPPORT! :o)

Well we did it on the first event in Belfast on 3rd May!!!!
Uncle Patrick, Mairead, Rob, Auntie Lauren and Uncle David did 26.2 miles between them in around 5 hours! Whilst Uncle John got round on his own in around 4 hours!
So a top effort by all involved, whilst having a great day out! Still Uncle Chris' run to go in June!

In early December of last year, our wonderful 5 year old son / nephew / grandson / brother Patrick suddenly became seriously ill with a lymphoma in his throat and lungs, was rushed into hospital requiring urgent surgery to ease the symptoms and save his life. Since then Patrick, his Mum (Mairead) and Dad (Rob) have spent significant time in the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and received amazing support and treatment from the staff of the Haematology department. Patrick is now over half way through his 6 months course of chemotherapy and, although at times he is understandably finding things really tough, he is making really good progress.

One of the charities that supports the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children is called CLIC Sargent. Mairead and Rob have been given great support from CLIC Sargent volunteers and being able to stay near Patrick in on-site accommodation funded by CLIC. This is one of UK's leading children's cancer charities which aims to ease the burden of childhood cancer on children, young people and their families. Funds raised for CLIC Sargent are used to provide family care and support, financial support, a helpline and fund research into cancer, plus many other vital services. Last year the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children treated over 11,000 inpatient, 5,000 of which were emergencies, plus 45,000 outpatient Accident & Emergency cases. Without the help of CLIC Sargent, they simply would not be able to provide this level of service.

Therefore, in an attempt to raise lots of money for this most worthy of charities, lots of Patrick's family have decided to dust off their running shoes and start pounding a ridiculous number of miles (especially given our current fitness levels!!!!).

So the current calendar of events is as follows:-
Monday, 3rd May - Belfast Marathon - Mairead, Rob, Uncle David, Uncle Patrick and Auntie Lauren have now ran team relay race of the 26 miles course, had a great time and finished in a very respectable time around 5 hours! Whilst Uncle John got round the course in just over 4 hours! :o)

Sunday 13th June - St. Albans - Uncle Chris will be running the Half Marathon.
