Story

The Mongol Rally 2010 – The Buglers

Myself and 2 Friends will be taking on the Mongol Rally this year with the Idea being we arrive safely in Mongolia and donate the ambulance to a hospital there.  Picking up 2 other friends on the russian border for the final trip into Mongolia.

Official rally details :  http://mongolrally.theadventurists.com/index.php

The idea is we are driving to the Mongolian capital Ulaan Baatar from London in four/five weeks .

It's between about 10,000 miles aiming to average around 400 Miles aday for the duration.  Having never driven further than London to Manchester it’s somewhat daunting.

The organiser tell us :  "You only start having fun when you break down in the desert with only a short stick and some chewing gum to fix your car. If your automobile completely lets you down and all else fails, e.g. the sky has fallen on your head, you may be able to get to Mongolia by scabbing a lift from other cars. However, you are supposed to be on an adventure "

Guaranteed to get lost in the middle of the Kazakh desert, car slowly being shredded by the dirt track your map says is a motorway, completely lost hundreds of miles from civilisation with no back up crew to rescue you. Just you, your wits, your increasingly brown pants, a car that the laws of physics say shouldn't have get you there and a slightly angry looking man with a gun. "

In a normal year just over half the teams make the finish line in one piece”

And Upon reading this we still decided to sign up.

Ambulance   Aswell as raising cash we will be donating the ambulance to a Mongolian hospital if /when we managed to get it there successfully. So far spent around £5000 getting it to state that will successfully get us there.
