Bonjour Do you like walking? Nature? Learning foreign languages? Meeting people and sharing? Do you feel it is important that we all do our bit to preserve our beautiful countryside? So do I and this is why I am inviting you to join me or support me for my Living Water Challenge on the 13th of June, part of the Railway Land Project. For more information about this wonderful initiative, please go to www.railwaylandproject.org Now let me tell you what for me is the main reason for supporting the Living Water Challenge. I am doing this because the Railway Land Project involves adults with learning difficulties and various levels of handicap and I applaud any initiative that works towards a better inclusion in the community of people like Robert, Helen and their friends. And my secret motivation for participating? His name is Loulou, he is a French 54 year old poet, musician, philosopher, fun and animal lover with severe mental and physical handicap, and he is my brother. In France, adults with handicaps are still too often kept away from the community, and my hope is to soon see more initiatives such as the Railway Land Project and the Parc Guy Weber www.parcguyweber.free.fr another fantastic project just across the Channel in Normandy, see the light of day in France. By the way, Robert and Helen are my friend Jean’s children. Jean is the soul of the Living Water Challenge and Robert is a seasoned fund-raiser, having raised the staggering amount of £1650 on his 2007 challenge a 5 km walk on the South Downs. Please go to http://www.justgiving.com/robertcash and http://www.justgiving.com/livingwaterchallenges to know more about these fantastic people and support Robert and Jean’s own 2008 challenges. What is my challenge?
I am inviting you to join me for a walk from Hamsey to Lewes in the morning and then Lewes to Newhaven in the afternoon on Friday the 13th of June. Being blessed with a strong pair of legs, walking is not much of a challenge for me so I am organising a French Walk/Talk for French learners. It is the organising bit that will be my real challenge! So please email me at babette@cosmofil.com and ask to fill the form that will help me organise your French Walk/Talk depending on your level of French and your interests. There will many French people doing the walk on that day so you will have the opportunity to practise your French while squeezing out of them the clues that will help you complete the French Walk/Talk treasure hunt. Vous êtes partants? Alors en route pour la chasse au trésor!
The morning walk from Hamsey to Lewes is free but there is a £5 registration fee for the walk from Lewes to Newhaven, starting at 2 PM from the Railway Land. This walk is followed by Cream Tea at the Newhaven Fort. Donations for the French Walk/Talk Treasure Hunt will therefore be on top of the £5. Of course, you do not have to do the walk to donate to this wonderful cause. Want to make a weekend out of it and join the group for the French leg of the walk? Email Eleanor Mockler Elmockler@hotmail.com who will send you the details. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Railway Land Wildlife Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
