Story

So around three years ago I entered a 10K running race, I had never ran more than 5 miles.........

I completed this race 10k (6.2m) in a not to bad 47mins.....I have never looked back.

I found  the challenge of challenging myself was a positive way in which to channel my energy (something as many you know I have a lot off).... since then I have completed eight Triathlons,  numerous running and cycling events. These have ranged from sprint events to half-Ironman events.

These have all been completed for my own self gain, to see how hard I can push myself and see what my capabilities are as a human being. At times I have been very lucky to have Emma join me on a number of these events and again seen her go beyond what others would deem unattainable. Again she has done this for herself to see and understand the possibilities of her own determination.

Spurred on by the fact that we are both super competitive with each other has nothing to do with this.....honest

Over the past years we have educated ourselves and found a common ground in which to share our new love of endurance sports and the countryside.

So why have I raised this webpage I hear you ask? We have decided to take things up a notch, by completing in the following events:

Endurance life 7x7x7 challenge - This is a costal (trail run) Marathon once a month for 7 Months. These are not normal Marathons, they are off road races that take in some of the most beautiful parts of the English and Welsh countryside has on offer. The downfall being hills, and lots of them.  These Marathon started in November and we completed the first one in 51/2 hours coming in a respectable 61st and 62nd out of 120. The more amazing thing being we had never run any further than 18miles.  This show that the human body is a great thing, and something we need to look after if you have the chance to.

(Note: Due to an injury we have not completed in the December race, but will be doing this a week after the Marathon in March - Which should make things interesting as we will not have aid stations or Marshal so will be running around the Welsh countryside with just the aid of a map and GPS)

The following event will begin June 27th this will be the month after the last Marathon.

The Newforest Ironman (2.4m swim/112m bike/26.2m run)

This will be our first full Ironman distance Triathlon. In preparation for this event we have a 30 week training plan to develop and allow our bodies to adjust to such a commitment. The challenge here is to finish under the 19hrs cut off. time, I assume without passing out in the process.

So as these events will test not only our bodies, mind and commitment to each other but to the charity of our choice.  We believe we can help make someone else life and their families better be it for a moment or a life time.  Therefore we are asking you to donate any amount to our chosen Charity Demelza House and this statement below provides the reason why:

What is a Children's Hospice?

Children's hospices support children and young people who are expected to die before reaching adulthood, and their families. Due to the hereditary nature of many of the children's illnesses, some families may have more than one affected child. In many cases there is no cure. In others, treatment has been tried but failed and the focus has transferred from active to palliative care.

When a diagnosis is given which offers no hope or where treatment is abandoned, families often feel very isolated and alone in their grief. Many of the conditions from which the children suffer deteriorate slowly over a number of years, placing an enormous strain on family life. Often the child will need constant care throughout the day and night and whilst families willingly invest their total love, energy and attention into caring for their sick child, they can and do become exhausted. Healthy brothers and sisters often feel left out as attention focuses on the sick child.

Children's hospices provide the necessary short breaks and a range of services benefiting the children and young people themselves and their wider family, which are simply not available elsewhere.

We have been lucky to be able to see ourselves grow as individuals, others do not have this luxury and Emma and I will be running, swimming, cycling, crawling, dragging and carrying each other across finishing lines to hopefully raise money for children that won’t have the opportunity life has given us. .

Thanks you for your time and generosity. I will be providing post race updates on our Facebook Page, and any question you have about our events please ask away.

Please go to http://www.justgiving.com/warren-emma.  I have set the target at £1000 but anything over this will of course be a great achivement. The total miles we will be completing is 324miles.
