Story

On the 25th of Novemeber 2009 our beloved Sophie was diagnosed with lung cancer. While the shock of the news shook us, and we are still recovering from it, she prepared for the fight. A big part of her preparation came from the support and guidance of the Macmillan Cancer Support website. Instead of darkness and uncertainty the information from the website gave Sophie the tools to face the road ahead with amazing grace and tenacity.

As a characteristic show of pro-activeness Sophie set up a blog charting her progress: http://cupcakescurlsandchemo.blogspot.com and a fundraising page, just like this, for Macmillan Cancer Support http://www.justgiving.com/cupcakescurlsandchemo. Donations flew in from as far afield as Sophie had travelled.

Sadly on the 14th December Sophie lost her battle with lung cancer, she is sorely missed by family, friends, colleagues, even people who had only met her once or twice. Donations to Sophie’s fundraising page continue to arrive, the total to date is an incredible £7000.

In memory of Sophie and to carry on her fundraising efforts a group of us are running the Bupa London 10,000 race for Macmillan Cancer Support. We aim to raise at least £3000 to take Sophie’s donation up to £10,000, 10k for Sophie.

However you know Sophie or any of the runners taking part, please help us reach 10k for Sophie. Keep an eye out for further fundraising efforts before and after the run.
