Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Usually you'd expect to see some massive, heroic adventure on these pages, but not this time. Mine is a very simple and modest trek involving a five mile walk with my little girl (Paige aged 9) around a pretty Essex village called Stock. So as it's Essex, no towering mountains in fact there will be barely an incline. It's five miles in total no matter how long it takes - it could even run to two hours! After which we will have afternoon tea with the mayor of Chelmsford :-) So I'm asking for a very modest contribution to my charity of choice, the Samaritans. May I ask that no-one gives me more than £5 in total, a simple emptying of the pockets of loose change will be greatly appreciated, not for mine and Paige's efforts but merely to help support this often unsung charity. You may be shocked to learn that;
According to the Men's Health Forum, suicide is now the commonest cause of death in men aged under 35 in England, with suicide rates for men aged 15–24 more than doubling since 1971
Samaritans' vision is for a society in which:
- Fewer people die by suicide
- People are able to explore their feelings
- People are able to acknowledge and respect the feelings of others
So a simple vision and a simple request - I hope you have lots of jingly change you wish to share :-)
