Story

I am going #SUGARFREEFOREPILEPSY in November because I support children and adults on a Ketogenic Diet for Epilepsy!

Sam and I have decided to go sugar free for November because epilepsy has touched both our lives and we want to raise awareness. No one knows when epilepsy will strike and how it will affect until you have to live with it.

I myself have a personal journey and struggle with epilepsy. My youngest son Gethin was also diagnosed with epilepsy at 18 months after a big tonic colonic seizure, more seizures followed and he was given medicine to help. After trying a few it was evident the medication wasn’t fully controlling his seizures. The side effects of the drugs were not good and some days it felt like I’d completely lost my little boy, there was no spark behind his eyes anymore. It was decided that Gethin could try the ketogenic diet. We have now been following the diet for 6 months and the change in Gethin is remarkable. We have less seizures and they are less severe, he attention has improved and he is more alert, even his ataxia has got better improving his balance greatly. It amazing to think your diet can do so much but the ketogenic has truly given me my little back and we have a spark back in my cheeky little boys eyes again.

Sam’s son Seb.                                                                     Sebs Story
Seb had his first epilepsy in August 2018. This condition takes your child’s life, you watch your child go from a happy go lucky child to an inward zombie. I never imagined the impact this horrid disease would bring to our family. I would of never be able to coupe if epilepsy UK hadn’t existed and with the help of Helen who could give us advice and a shoulder to cry on, which I am internally grateful for. Please help us to raise money for Children and Adults living with Epilepsy.

Please help us to raise awareness for our boys who are true epilepsy warriors and support Matthew’s Friends that is a amazing charity supporting families with children and adults on the ketogenic diet x
