Story

Hi Everyone,

In April 2022 I will be travelling to Nepal with 20
Co-op colleagues including my good friend Damian Lamb to climb to Mount
Everest's Base camp (5364 Metres) over a 14-day Trek.

The 14 days of trekking takes us via the Sherpa capital
of Namche Bazaar through beautiful valleys, dense forests and across glacial
rivers, enjoying tantalising glimpses of the mighty Everest before we reach our
goal of Base Camp.

On the 31st of October along with a team of
Co-op colleagues from all over the UK I am setting off on a trek across Nepal
up to Everest base camp. Overall, we are going be trekking for 14 days with it
taking 10 days to reach base camp and 4 days to return. This trek is graded
challenging to extreme because we will be trekking for 12 consecutive days over
rough terrain, we will be exposed to higher altitudes each day, (average 4000m
and up to a maximum of 5554m) and will stay overnight in basic teahouses. This
is part of a national fundraising effort by 20+ Co-op colleagues. The trek each
day is between 5 and 8 hours (variable depending on group pace) and we will
cover approximately 10-15km per day. Temperatures will range between 20 to 5
degrees in the day with temperatures at night ranging between 0 to -10 degrees.

We have all chosen our own charities to support through
this amazing challenge and have pledged to raise a minimum of £5000 each! The
charity I have chosen to support is Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.

Bluebell Wood is a charity that care for children and young
adults whose lives are grievously just too short, both in their own homes and
in their hospice based in Sheffield. Being a father of two beautiful children
myself, it’s beyond belief to think you’d ever be in that position where you’d
require a hospice. Bluebell Wood support parents in making extraordinary
memories with their child, however long they have left whether they have years,
months, weeks or even days together. Bluebell Wood is a home from home for many
families going through the most heart-breaking times of their lives.

Thank you for taking the time to read my page. Please
help me raise as much money as I can for this amazing charity!

About the charity
