I don't know the total team donation yet but it will make a difference. Thank you to all the team for their efforts and I really appreciate it!!!!
If anyone's reading this and thinking they're too late ----THINK AGAIN! This page is open for another three weeks so why not give yourself a warm fuzzy feeling and donate.
Thank you.
This is a picture of my Mum Pat Robson with my daughter in Lapland last Christmas. We were all in blissful ignorance that mum had cancer and we were enjoying family time together. Six weeks after this picture was taken she discovered the news. Ten weeks after that she died.
We all miss her so much and will never forget her warmth, kindness and love. Life will never be quite the same again.
Mum spent the last three weeks in Dorothy House. This was a place she felt safe and comfortable. A place where we were free to visit and stay as long as we liked. Contary to popular belief, the hospice is not a place of great sadness. In the midst of what feels like a nightmare it is a refuge; a place of calm and peace. It recognises that people are facing one of their toughest challenges and allows them to do so with dignity. It allowed us to enjoy our last days together without fear. How many people can say that? They even had a playroom for my kids, a cot for my neice and a hot meal for Dad should he need it.
I can't tell you what a difference this makes. I do not know what we would have done without them. We are so very grateful.
As a tribute to Mum I am running the Bristol 1/2 Marathon as part of a team to raise money for the hospice in her memory in the hope that other people can receive the care and attention my Mum was lucky enough to have. The hospice is reliant on donations, the in patient unit costs £7000 a day to run and recieves only 30% from the NHS.
...and the 1/2 marathon...
For those that don't know me that well. 13.1 miles is a long way for me and it'll hurt...a lot!!!!
