Story
In 2025, we’re marking 110 years of Edith Cavell’s legacy by inviting people to take part in our 110 Campaign and fundraise in support of nurses and midwives.
Edith Cavell is a British Nurse celebrated for saving the lives of soldiers from both sides in World War One, regardless of nationality. Because she helped 200 Allied soldiers reach freedom from German-occupied Belgium, Edith was arrested, found guilty of treason and sentenced to death on 12 October 1915.
110 years on, Edith Cavell remains an inspiration to many and her legacy lives on in every act of bravery, compassion and dedication shown by those in nursing and midwifery today.
There are three simple ways to get involved: create a meaningful moment by doing something that matters to you, move with purpose and complete miles for 110, or mark this milestone with a message of support, a small donation, or by sharing Edith’s story.
However you take part, you’ll be honouring her legacy and helping to support nurses and midwives facing hardship today.
By taking on a 110 Challenge this year, you'll be helping Cavell to continue to be there, providing financial and emotional support to nurses and midwives, when they need it most.
