Story

Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary (UK) is a dedicated organisation committed to the conservation of endangered species. Our mission is to collaborate with various stakeholders to rescue, rehabilitate, and reintroduce orphaned or injured rhinos into their natural habitats. By doing so, we strive to empower rural communities, fostering sustainable ecosystems and development models that benefit both wildlife and residents.

Over the past decade, Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary has provided refuge for more than 120 rhinos, including 22 individuals requiring specialised care due to injuries. As these orphaned rhinos have matured, we have initiated a successful breeding program within our facility, resulting in the birth of the first rhino calf at Care for Wild in 2022.

Our work goes beyond mere conservation; it plays a crucial role in securing viable breeding populations for key species, ensuring their survival for the betterment of our planet and future generations. By combining rescue efforts, rehabilitation, rewilding, and community engagement, we are actively contributing to the preservation of these magnificent creatures and the ecosystems they inhabit.

At Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary (UK), we firmly believe that safeguarding endangered species requires a collaborative approach. Together with our dedicated team, partners, and supporters, we are making a tangible impact in the fight against species decline, creating a brighter and more sustainable future for rhinos and our natural world.

Care for Wild’s vital work is only possible thanks to donations, fundraising, events, adoptions and by publicising the plight of the rhino and other species, pushed to the point of extinction by the barbaric poaching that takes place daily in South Africa.

About the charity

We exist to help save endangered species, in particular black and white rhinos, orphaned by the poaching epidemic which is threatening their extinction in South Africa. Part of this aim is achieved by working to develop the communities local to the sanctuary in Mpumalanga province, South Africa.
