A more active world for better mental health

Decades of science proves that having an activity focus has a positive impact on mental health and recovery from mental illness. We help people supported by NHS mental health teams to help them find THEIR activity focus for better mental health.

Our vision is for a more active world for better mental health. Decades of science prove that having an activity focus (physical activity, music, art, learning) can both promote mental wellbeing and help people to recover from mental illness. We help people currently struggling with their mental health and supported by NHS teams. Our aim is to help them unlock an activity focus which can be an important part of their recovery alongside the medical and psychological support they are receiving. It is highly likely that as you read this that you, a loved one or a friend is struggling with their mental health. Over 8m people are taking prescription medications for a mental health issue and 1.8m people are being supported by NHS Mental Health teams. This crisis is impacting on millions of families and we aim to change the script by putting activity at the heart of both promoting mental wellbeing and recovering from mental illness. Please donate to help us support thousands of people struggling with their mental health and help create a world where activity is seen as important to mental health as it is to physical health.

Story

There are over 8m people taking prescription medications for a mental health issue and over 1.5m people currently supported by NHS mental health teams.

As you read this it is highly likely that you, a loved one or friend may be struggling with their mental health. It is time to change the script on how we approach mental health and put activity at the heart of both maintaining positive mental health and recovering from mental illness.

Decades of science proves the restorative effect that activity can have on mental health - "this is no snake oil" is how the NHS describe the power of exercise in creating positive mental wellbeing.

We are here to help people find THEIR activity focus for better mental health, aiming to work alongside NHS Mental Health Teams who are supporting people struggling.

This years Mental Health Week (13th-19th May) theme is "Movement : moving more for mental health". This is EXACTLY why the charity exists - helping people to find an activity focus for better mental health.

So please donate to help us create a more active world for better mental health.
