Story
Every late May bank holiday, something happens at Amos Trust. We get on our bikes.
It started in 2008 when 30 of us rode coast-to-coast from Whitehaven to Tynemouth, raising funds for uMthombo, our street child partner in South Africa. We were hooked.
This year, we are cycling for 3 days in Belgium, and will undertake the final stages of the Paris Robaix! Some of us will then carry on to the Alps, where we will support Anne Jones, 84 years young, to complete Alpe d'Huez, and the craziest of us will take on all 5,000m elevation of the Marmotte (177km in one day!). We are so excited that this year we will be joined by the Gaza Sunbirds paracyclist's Alaa al Dali and Mohammed Asfour, who will have just finished competing at the 2026 ParaCycling World Cup.
The Amos Road Club isn’t about lycra or speed — it’s about showing up, sweating together and raising funds for partners who are doing the real hard yards on the ground.
This year we are riding for our partners in Gaza, who are carrying out essential psychosocial work for families, as well as providing education for children and young people in tent schools, as people desperately try to rebuild their lives in the midst of a genocide which is not yet over.
We are riding for 'Sumud' projects in the West Bank, where our partners on the ground are supporting their communities to remain steadfast as life under occupation becomes increasingly difficult. Settler attacks have intensified, families are losing income and homes are being demolished. We are working with HIRN and Holy Land Trust to document violations, supporting affected families, organising nonviolent resistance and supporting small culture and arts projects. They’re building solidarity, preserving culture and refusing to be erased.
