Story

On Friday 21st June, CLSG staff and students will walk an impressive 11 miles from Hampton Court to Kew Cricket Green in their Annual Sponsored Walk to support Street Child's work in Liberia, improving access to education for the most vulnerable and out-of-school children.

Over the course of the three-year partnership, CLSG will be supporting Street Child with a target of £100,000 to ensure that the most vulnerable children (of which, 50% are girls) across Liberia are safe, in school, and learning.

Liberia is one of the poorest countries in the world, and is on-track to be the last country in the world to achieve universal basic education. The country has immense need after 14 years of civil war, the Ebola outbreak, and now the coronavirus pandemic, and yet has historically been underfunded, leaving families and their children without necessary support. 21% of primary age children across the country are out of schools, with girls consistently deprioritised.

Please support Street Child by giving generously. Your support will enable Street Child to: establish safe and secure learning spaces in rural and remote areas where there are not schools; raise awareness of the importance, equitability, and availability of schooling; supporting caregivers and communities with income generating activities to help keep schools open; create relevant learning materials; strengthen teaching capacity through targeted teacher training; and consistently assess the learning progress of children.

Children who would otherwise have no access to learning.
