Story
“Sport has been one of the biggest parts of my time at Robinson. It gives me a break from academic pressure, keeps me active, and has helped me build friendships across all years – even with alumni through our current and ex-student matches. Being part of a team makes College feel like a real community, creating friendships and memories that last far beyond university. Making sure sport is properly supported will help more students have the chance to experience that.” – Jack, 2nd Year, Theology
Sport plays a powerful role in shaping student life. It creates friendships, builds confidence, supports wellbeing and provides balance alongside academic demands. For many students, this can be where College becomes community.
Our goal
During Binson Gives Month, we are raising funds to strengthen student sport across the College, enabling greater support for sport societies, participation and access.
Support will allow Robinson to respond flexibly to the evolving needs of student sport – whether through enhancing shared equipment and kit, supporting societies with additional resources, or enabling individual students to participate fully. This adaptable approach ensures funds can be directed where they will have the greatest impact, helping to maintain fairness, inclusion and opportunity.
Why now?
Lent Term sees an increased focus on academic studies. During this time, opportunities for physical activity and social connection are especially valuable. Sport provides structure, release and belonging, helping maintain wellbeing and perspective alongside academic pressure.
Giving now strengthens the foundations of College sport, enabling Robinson to invest considerately in participation, experience and opportunity for current and future students.
As Robinson looks ahead to its 50th Anniversary in 2027, this project reflects a continued commitment to wellbeing, confidence and community – investing in the experiences that help students thrive.
