Story
By providing a safe house, we ensure their dignity, and with little less worry, the family can continue their life with some peace of mind.
Families in the Northern districts of Dinajpur, Nilphamari & Panchagarh face acute poverty due to limited income opportunities. Families mainly rely on daily labourer incomes connected to agricultural work, which usually pays a maximum of 500-600 BDT (£3.20); however, during lean seasons, the majority of families become jobless, and food insecurity gets worst, causing a high prevalence of health issues due to their weak immune systems.
Access to Health, Education, Clean drinking water and sanitation is not available to the majority of the population; around 85% of families do not have sanitation facilities and use open defecation, and the situation is worse for females who have to wait until late at night or early morning hours to go for open defecation; otherwise, they have to suppress their needs, which is inhuman, undignified, but unfortunately, a reality.
