Since its foundation in 2003, COPS has supported hundreds of families from across the UK devastated by the loss of a loved one in the police service. At its heart, COPS is a peer support charity which brings families who have had similar experiences together to support each other. We also provide access to specialist bereavement counselling, respite services and mental health/wellbeing support, including a 24/7 helpline. We also fund driving lessons for the surviving children of police officers and staff who have died on duty.

COPS is here for our police families, no matter when their bereavement happened – we support families whose loved one died whether recently or fifty years ago. We understand that grief doesn’t have an expiration date – it can still be incredibly difficult, even many years down the line.
