Furnishing Futures fully furnishes and decorates the homes of vulnerable women and children who don’t have access to basic items of furniture by partnering with the interiors industry to repurpose high quality products that might otherwise be sent to landfill. We combine social work values with interior design skills to create healing homes for families who have experienced multiple disadvantages and trauma, in particular women and children who are moving on from domestic abuse refuges.

Story

Furnishing Futures supports women and children rebuilding their lives after domestic abuse by creating beautifully furnished, healing homes.

When someone escapes abuse, they often leave with nothing but the clothes they are wearing. An empty shell alone isn’t enough — a home needs warmth, dignity and care. From beds to sofas, kitchen tables to children’s bedrooms, we transform empty properties into welcoming homes where rebuilding can begin.

The Hackney Half is a vital fundraising event for Furnishing Futures. By running, donating, or supporting our team, you are helping us to turn empty shells into fresh starts — offering comfort, stability and hope at a time when it’s needed most.

By supporting our Hackney Half runners, you’re helping us deliver more love, less landfill and ensure that survivors don’t just have a roof over their heads, but a place that truly feels like home so they can be.
