Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) describes neurological symptoms including limb weakness, tremor, and blackouts caused by a disorder of nervous system functioning, rather than the kind of structural brain disease that can be seen on a scan. It happens at a level in the brain that the person can’t control. Up to 100,000 people in the UK live with FND.

Professor Jon Stone and Professor Alan Carson founded the FND Research Group, based at the University of Edinburgh, in 2005. The Centre has grown from strength to strength and is one of the world's leading centres for FND research.

Your donation will go directly to the FND Research Group to help carry out clinical research on FND, raise awareness of the condition among health professionals. Areas it may support include maintaining high-quality self-help materials for patients such as the “neurosymptoms FND guide” at www.neurosymptoms.org and connecting patients to a global research database.
