Story

Purple Day the international day of epilepsy awareness - returns on Friday 26th March 2021, and here at Young Epilepsy, we want to make it the biggest yet!

This year, Young Epilepsy are inviting you to #GoPurple, and there are a range of exciting activities you can take part in;

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Party Purple;

Celebrate Purple Day from the safety of home with a purple house party! Bake purple cakes, mix purple mocktails, and decorate your room with our downloadable bunting.

For virtual parties, we have exclusive virtual backgrounds available on our online shop - https://youngepilepsy.shop/collections/digital-downloads

Make a donation, share your pictures on social and be part of the largest purple party ever!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wear Purple;

Leggings in lilac, a heliotrope hat, maybe mittens in mauve, or even a wine-coloured wig you can show your support in any shade!

Wear Purple this Purple Day and help raise money to support essential epilepsy services across the country.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Team Purple;

For those of you feeling active, you can join Team Purple! Run, walk, wheel, swim or cycle for young people who are living in lockdown with epilepsy. Choose your challenge from our website or make up your own.

You can make a change to thousands of young lives with just a few thousand steps!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why your support is vital:

With families across the country living in lockdown, it is even harder for young people living with epilepsy to access the support they need. Children and teenagers can feel cut-off from the world without anyone to speak to.

The fear and uncertainty that a diagnosis brings can have devastating effects of a young persons mental health. In fact, nearly half of young people with epilepsy also suffer from a mental health condition.

Young Epilepsy has created The Hub @ The Channel, an online community for young people to get answers to the questions they need to ask.

Projects like this one are supported by money raised on Purple Day. By getting involved, you can make a huge practical difference to a young person's everyday life.
