Story
Pledge to run, walk, or cycle with ActionAid and 'Go the Distance' to help change the lives of women and girls living in poverty. You can complete your challenge in one day, or split the distance over one month - the choice is yours.
How your support can help
ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Our dedicated local staff are changing the world with women and girls. We are ending violence and fighting poverty so that all women and girls everywhere, can create the future they want.
Women and girls are more likely to be living in poverty, simply because of their gender. They make up half of the worlds population, yet represent a staggering 70% of the worlds poorest people, with unequal access to employment, education and healthcare. We're working with women and girls to change this, and help them claim their rights, to challenge injustice and to fight for gender equality.
£20 could produce booklets on laws and policies protecting women against abuse.
£67 could provide meals for a month for a girl who's escaped violence/abuse and is living in temporary safe space/shelter.
£224 could pay a lawyers salary for a month so survivors can access support as they pursue justice.
