We’re back at the start line for another year of challenge, connection and community spirit and this year, we’ve got 10 brilliant people lacing up their trainers to run the Cambridge Half Marathon in support of Hunts Community Cancer Network (HCCN).

Whether they’re seasoned runners or taking on 13.1 miles for the very first time, they’re doing it to help raise vital funds and awareness for local adults living with or beyond a cancer diagnosis.

Together, we’re moving for a cause and we’d love your support.

🏃‍♀️ Meet the Runners Behind the Miles

2026's Cambridge Half Marathon team is already making waves, with supporters lacing up for loved ones, for personal goals, and for the shared mission of helping local adults live well with or beyond cancer in Huntingdonshire.

"Running a half marathon is a real challenge to me and something I never thought I’d do - I used to ask my Mum to write me a note to get me out of cross country at School! I’m privileged to meet some wonderful people in my role as community cancer nurse and I hope by raising funds it will enable the charity to continue to offer the invaluable support they provide both now, and in the future to those who need it." - Mel

"I'm running the Cambridge Half Marathon for HCCN because it's a fantastic charity that is close to my heart and I want to raise as much money as I can to help fund the invaluable work they do." - Ben

"After running for hccn last year and seeing how grateful the amazing staff was for my efforts last year i just had to come back and do it again for team hccn." - Wayne

"I am running this half marathon in support of HCCN because the charity is deeply close my best friend Hannah, who grew up closely connected to HCCN, as her mum, Gini Melesi, co-founded the charity with the aim of providing better care at home for people living with and beyond cancer in our local community. Sadly, in 2021, Hannah’s dad then died from lung cancer. This loss showed me the importance of HCCN’s mission and reinforced just how vital support is for individuals and families" - Bella

I’m super excited to take on my first half marathon, especially since I’m raising funds for HCCN. Working with the HCCN specialist nurses has opened my eyes to just how crucial their support is for cancer patients and their families. They do such an incredible job, providing care and compassion that really helps ease the burden during tough times. By running this half marathon, I want to honor all their hard work and raise money to boost the services HCCN offers. Each mile I run will remind me of the strength of the patients and families I’m there for, along with the dedication of the nurses who support them.

As I prepare for the race, I realize it’s not just about me; it’s a chance to advocate for a cause that matters to so many. I hope to inspire others to get involved and help those in need. I’m really motivated to keep pushing through, knowing my efforts can make a real difference. Every mile will be a tribute to hope and the amazing work the HCCN team is doing. - Grace

I am so proud to be running for the HCCN, helping raise funds and awareness for the incredible work they do. It’s a charity very close to my colleague’s heart, and I am happy to be able to run in support. " - Joanna

“For me, running for HCCN every time is a simple & easy choice, for 2 very special important reasons….

1. My amazing (special) mum, Gini Melesi, Co-Founded the charity along with a patient, and then close friend, Susan Moore back in 2015 after pioneering and then leading a ‘Cancer care at home’ pilot from 2012! Meaning I actually ran my first half marathon for HCCN 10 years ago back in 2016 with Team Bex!

2. My important reason…after my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer and died in 2021, I saw first hand how vital charities like HCCN are for not only the person living with, and beyond cancer, but for the family’s supporting them through their journey and the lifelines they create.

Please Donate! you really couldn’t be helping a better cause for you local community” - Hannah
