Wasim, the young boy in the photo, was injured terribly in a bomb blast that killed every other member of his immediate family. He had multiple operations with our team and spent several weeks in the intensive care unit before, tragically, succumbing to his injuries and overwhelming infection; surrounded only by the doctors and nurses who had worked so hard to save him. This must never be allowed to happen again.
