Blaine Hancock was diagnosed with an early stage of testicular cancer on the 16th July 2019, in the weeks leading up to this Blaine attended several doctors and hospital appointments before receiving the life changing news.
In April 2020, Blaine and a number of his friends are taking on an incredible challenge , they're planning to cycle from Long Eaton near Derby to Skegness which is around 100 miles. As you can imagine this will take some level of dedication and courage.
Blaine has chosen to take on this challenge for a number of reasons, Blaine felt there isn't much out there for those directly affected by testicular cancer and not enough men talking about their health. Blaine is on a mission to raise around £3,000 in aid of Baggy Trousers UK to help continue the life saving work and secondly share his personal experience with testicular cancer in the hope of raising awareness to encourage males to check themselves on a regular basis.
Cycling to and from work, playing football on Sundays and going for rides with some of the people taking part will be part of the training in preparation for the 100 mile cycle.
The funds raised by Blaine and his friends will help Baggy Trousers UK continue raising awareness through engaging awareness talks in schools, colleges and workplaces. The funds will also help provide support to those directly affected by testicular cancer. Blaine has experienced just how beneficial peer support is and how speaking to others who have been through a similar experience can have such a positive impact on mental and emotional well-being.
