Story

Thank you for supporting #TeamMartlets.

Martlets is a local charity providing essential care to people affected by terminal illness in Brighton and Hove, and surrounding areas. Our expert teams provide the very best care and support, helping patients and their loved ones to live life to the full during the precious time they have together.

Clare's final weeks were greatly assisted by the wonderful team at Martlets; they have continued to look after and support Clare's family since. Clare was one of my biggest running supporters, always encouraging me and in awe of the events I entered. Every step of the 26 miles will be for her.

Most people receive care from us in their own homes. Others choose to spend their final days on our inpatient unit, or to join us as inpatients for respite care or symptom management. Outpatients also visit our hospice for pain relief, physiotherapy, counselling, welfare advice and social activities; some of these services were adapted during the COVID pandemic and continue to be offered via telephone and online video sessions.

How does the money you raise make a difference?

Martlets care is free thanks to the support of local people, businesses, and trusts. An NHS grant covers a portion of our costs, but we rely on the community to fund most of our vital services. From terminal cancer and end-stage heart disease to neurological conditions such as Parkinsons, Alzheimers, and Motor Neurone Disease, were here to help.
