Story

Let's hit the Bay!

On Saturday 18th of May 2024 we are once again guiding supporters of Derian House Children's Hospice across Morecambe Bay to raise funds for our children and families. Starting off in Arnside, our Guide to the sands Michael Wilson will lead our party to the picturesque village of Grange-over-Sands. This 7-10 mile walk can be challenging so expect various weather conditions and maybe even a 50 meter wade through water up to 2ft in depth. You should be prepared, this is a typical list of things to bring along on the day.

- Personal medication, including blister relief.

- Charged mobile phone.

- Sun cream (sand, sun and sea can be a fierce combination).

- Liquid refreshment. There are no toilets on the crossing, so consider your needs.

- Energy snacks/lunch.

- A hat (a peak will protect your eyes).

- Sunglasses, if appropriate.

- Breathable lightweight clothing, a waterproof and a few extra layers if you feel the cold.

Due to the uncertainty regarding trains between Arnside and Grange over Sands we are again offering a coach transportation service which will leave Grange for Arnside on the prior to the walk. We advise supporters to park in Grange over Sands and either travel to the start of the walk at Arnside by our coach or indeed by train. More details on costings for this coach service will be announced shortly. The coach will be collecting us from Grange train station at 12.30pm - this will allow walkers to arrive in Arnside at around 1.15pm for registration. Please intend to arrive at Grange train station around 12pm to allow time for parking. The walk start time itself is 2pm and we will be setting off from the promenade in Arnside.
