Pendle has the highest level of child poverty in the UK. In Pendle 43.2 per cent of children live in poverty.
Families are struggling to merely survive in this cost of living crisis. A sudden crisis, benefit delay, illness or even an expected bill means going hungry. Every day parents skip meals to feed their children and people are forced to choose between paying the rent, utility bills or eating.
Countless children are going to school hungry and others going to sleep hungry.
At Nelson Community Masjid, we believe in creating a community where happiness, love, and peace reside in every home.
Our mission is to create a future where no one has to worry about where their next meal will come from. Together, we're making a difference!
Join us in supporting the incredible work of our award winning food bank as we fight hunger and provide hope to families in need.
In 2023 alone, we delivered over 42,000 hot meals and provided 4,700 emergency food parcels. We provide food to everyone in the community regardless of race or religion.
We work closely with incredible organisations to identify individuals and families who are facing challenges with the cost of living.
We are urgently seeking donations so that we can continue to provide emergency food parcels and hot meals.
Your donations don’t just provide food. They provide hope.
In May 2024 we will be opening a cafe to cater for those in need. We will be providing free meals and a warm space for those who are struggling.
Together, we can create a stronger, more caring community where no one has to worry about where their next meal will come from
