Oldies Club is a dog rescue charity which is run by volunteers and helps dogs aged 7+. It often takes in dogs that have been neglected, resulting in large vet bills. Oldies Club places dogs in foster homes, where they are assessed and receive any veterinary treatment required before being rehomed.

Story

We launch our Winter Appeal 2025, having paid out over £20,000 in October 2025 alone for the older dogs in our care, and hoping to raise as much as possible to help us continue that care through the winter months.

Oldies Club is a volunteer-run charity that rescues and rehomes older dogs in the UK. Vet bills, our predominant expense, run into the many thousands of pounds each month, as we ensure that the dogs in our care receive the necessary treatment to get them back to good health and ready for adoption, while also supporting the increasing number of permanent foster dogs in our sponsor scheme, where we cover vet bills for the rest of the dogs’ lives.

We have chosen to feature Stricks for our Winter Appeal launch, a dog who came into Oldies Club care earlier in 2025 in a very sad state. He was placed in one of our wonderful foster homes, where he received lots of TLC from his fosterers, while Oldies Club spent over £3,780 on improving his health. A transformation that is very clear from the comparison photos, we’re sure you’ll agree, and worth every penny. Not every dog arrives in Oldies Club care in such a poor state, but even a dog in relatively good health and condition can cost us hundreds of pounds, and others do require thousands of pounds to be spent on them. We can only continue to help these dogs with your kind donations, and every penny is so appreciated.

We welcome older dogs into our care from varying situations. Sometimes, very sadly, their person has passed away, been diagnosed with a terminal illness, or had to move to accommodation where they were not permitted to have an animal companion. Others have faced work and/or financial changes, leaving them unable to provide for their dog in the way they previously had. Unfortunately, due in part to the cost-of-living crisis, we, along with most other rescues, are being asked to help an increasing number of dogs-in-need. We are sadly not able to help them all, but for those fortunate to find themselves a place of safety with Oldies Club, we will do our very best for them and this does, in these times, tend to come at great expense.

Your donations, of whatever amount you can afford, will be very gratefully received and will hopefully not only help us to continue looking after the dogs already in our care, but boost our funds sufficiently that we are able to welcome more of the oldies-in-need from our waiting list during the coming weeks and months too. Thank you.
