Ocular melanoma is so rare and the prognosis often so overwhelming, that patients frequently report feeling totally isolated. We advocate for change by uniting stakeholders against ocular melanoma cancers so people receive the treatment, information and support they need.

Story

Our OMUK walkers are taking on the final 67km of the historic Camino Frances to support people living with ocular melanoma.

Starting in Palas de Rei, they will walk for three days through gentle green countryside, quiet woodland and small villages before reaching Santiago. Along the way they will meet others travelling the same path and experience the culture that makes the Camino such a meaningful and memorable challenge.

Their walk ends in the heart of Santiago’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its characterful streets and the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.

This challenge is more than a physical effort. Every mile walked helps us continue the work that many people rely on, from expert information to emotional support. Your donation directly strengthens the services that make a difference every day.

Your support could help to fund:

- Our helpline, offering calm, informed support when people need it most.

- Specialist psychological support for individuals and families coping with ocular melanoma.

- Clear, evidence based information for people facing a diagnosis.

- Community support groups that reduce isolation and bring people together.

- Advocacy and policy work that ensures the voices of patients and families are heard.

Ocular Melanoma UK is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to supporting people affected by ocular melanoma. We help hundreds of people each year through our helpline, website and online community. As a small organisation, we get to know the individuals we support and the challenges they face, and this close connection shapes everything we do.

Our aim is clear, to ensure that everyone affected by ocular melanoma has access to the information, support and treatment they need to live well for longer. Our values guide us in this, and we work each day to reflect them in the way we support our community.

Thank you for supporting our OMUK walkers and for helping us continue this vital work.
