The 5 pillars of Islam form the foundaton of our faith. Similarly, the Rahma Institute requires your donations to stand as a pillar of faith in the Albanian community. The Institute will host facilities to benefit children and help them thrive!
Rahma (Mercy) was founded in the year 1999 in response to the plight of the refugees. We have since grown to becoming a UK registered Charity that is supporting thousands of people throughout the Balkans.
We support over 1000 Orphans, provide food aid, education, medical & much more.
Story
Albania is one of the poorest countries in Europe. Our beneficiaries are some of the most disadvantaged children living in communities with inadequate educational opportunities. Unfortunately, many children here are lacking basic education due to poverty, gender inequality, lack of access and lack of resources. By providing both Islamic and secular education, the Rahma Institute aims to be a driving force for social and economic change. This £6 million project will promote sustainability and longevity and the education children receive here will be an opportunity for them to break free of the poverty they face for generations to come.
The Rahma Institute will host facilities to benefit children and help them to thrive in an all round holistic environment. The aim is to provide students with high quality facilities and tailor-made spaces for learning and recreation. In order to live up to its multi-functional purpose, the Rahma Institute will consist of:
Dormitories for up to 200 girls
Classrooms
Prayer Room
Communal area
Kitchen & Dining Area
Private Gym & Outdoor sports facility
Parking Facilities
Library
Multifunctional sports and dining hall
Playground
Administration offices
Health Clinic
Retail block that will include a halal supermarket
Guest Accommodation
The site is located on the SH3 Expressway in Elbasan City. The SH3 Expressway is a main route linking the centre of Albania to the East, South East and North of the country and is a direct road to the neighbouring countries of Greece and Macedonia.
The Rahma Institute will stand on 6,000 square metres of land that previously hosted a brewery during Albanias communist past. The brewery supplied the whole of the Balkans with alcoholic beverages and exports went out as far as the former Soviet Union. Rahma Mercy is proud to be working towards transforming this space for the betterment of the Albanian community.
Currently the construction of the Rahma Institute of Phase 1 is underway. This Phase constitutes of approximately 65% of the proposed development and was expected to be completed in September 2021. Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 pandemic, work had temporarily been halted which slowed down progress. And now with the rise of inflation and increased costs we are urgently in need of funds from our supporters to ensure that we reach our fundraising target.
Sadaqa jariyah is an important concept within Islam. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge (which you passed on) and a child who prays for them, (Hadith, Muslim).
An education is one of the most powerful gifts a person can give and can transform a life forever, making it the ultimate form of Sadaqah jariyah. By donating towards the Rahma Institute, you will be ensuring children from deprived communities are given an equal right to education. You will be helping each and every child build their own future impacting generation after generation. This sustainable form of charity can benefit you in earning perpetual rewards even in your hereafter so long as the knowledge is passed on from one generation to the next.
