Story

In March 2026, 25 Reckitt employees and partners, will follow a ‘Journey of Water’ along the Tugela River in the Drakensberg, South Africa, for a total of 8 nights.

Each participant needs to raise £4,000 (without Gift Aid), with 100% of the funds raised going to WWF to support conservation projects in South Africa, such as developing the agro-ecology, spring protection and biodiversity work in the Northern Drakensberg.

Reckitt, in partnership with WWF, is proud to be working in the Northern Drakensberg Strategic Water Source Area (SWSA) in South Africa, aiming to replenish 75,000 cubic metres of freshwater. South Africa is facing a water crisis; it is the world’s 30th driest country and receives only around half of the global average rainfall.

On this journey, participants will get to understand the importance of the river for nature, people and business through a combination of trekking across the stunning Drakensberg landscape, kayaking along the Tugela River, engaging and working with local communities who rely on the river for their livelihoods and seeing first hand one of Reckitt’s manufacturing site in Elandsfontein, reliant on water from this river.
